Our Art Program
The greatest artists of the past and present use their Art as a mode
for self-expression. Art allows them to display their own personal
thoughts, feelings and opinions in regards to their families, their
friends, the world and their lives.
At Rockingham Lakes, the students are all viewed as great artists
of the present. They are shown how to appreciate their own art, their
peer’s art and the art of renowned artists of all nationalities.
They have the opportunity to form opinions about a range of artworks,
but at the same time learn to respect that all art is beautiful in
the artist’s eyes. Most importantly, the students use their
time in the art room to escape the pressures of day to day living.
They are able to express themselves freely within their artwork and
relax in the knowledge that everything created in the art room is
correct. The majority of students enjoy their time in the art room
and feel safe knowing they can openly express themselves without criticism
or judgment.
On a Thursday the year 3/4, 5/6 and 6/7 classes all visit our fantastic
Art room for an Art session with the Art specialist. The other classes
also take advantage of our wonderful Art room on other timetabled
days.
The Art room is well equipped with many new and exciting features
such as the kiln room, huge storerooms, several sinks and great bench
space. The Art specialist has worked hard to purchase and organize
all the equipment and materials necessary for the students to design
and create amazing pieces of artwork expressing their own individual
styles and feelings.
This year we have looked at two particular themes to create our artwork
based upon. These were the ocean and cartoons.
Below are some examples of fantastic artwork we created within these
two themes.
